Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design
$106 plus HST (Members), $121.90 plus HST (Non-members)
Learn the main elements of knitting – casting on, the knit stitch, the purl stitch and casting off. We will also be covering items such as how to read a pattern, how to make a gauge swatch and why are they important. We will start off with a practice piece to get familiar with the knitting technique. Once students are comfortable, they can start on a simple pattern of their choice, such as a dishcloth, a scarf or a hat. This class will be structured so that everyone can advance at their own comfort level. Learn at a pace that is comfortable for you.
Diane Harris arrived in Cape Breton in the early ‘70s as a knitter - teaching at the Cape Breton School of Craft – designing sweaters and doing production knitting. In the early ‘90s, she set aside her knitting needles and began working in stained glass and Rug Hooking. Her love of working with wool kept calling and she has once again picked up her needles and is pleased to introduce new knitters to the craft as well as provide a refresher for those already knitting.
