Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design
$120 plus HST (Members), $138 plus HST (Non-members)
With basic skills under your belt, you are now ready to stretch your creative imagination and take on a few more technical skills. This Fall Karen is going to focus on stone setting. Over the course of eight weeks she plans on teaching how to set cabochons and facetted stones in bezels and double bezels, tube and crown settings. You will have access to all metal studio tools and equipment. You are required to supply your own metals (available through the Centre), your own stones (Stones will be available on the first day of class) and your imagination. For the first time you will have the option of an afternoon or evening class on Wednesday. Maximum class size is 7.
Karen Wawer has loved jewellery from the time that she was a child. Three years ago she made the switch from consumer to creator when she took her first class at Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design. Never content with making the same thing twice, she spends her time designing fresh pieces and searching out new techniques. Now a member of Metal Arts Guild of Nova Scotia, Karen shows her work regularly in their juried shows and enjoys sharing her skills with students and fellow guild members.
