Jewellery (Introductory Level)

  • Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design 322 Charlotte Street Sydney, NS, B1P 1C8 Canada (map)

September 14 - November 9 (Mondays, 8 weeks)
 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm
Instructor: Karen Wawer
Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design
$120 plus HST (Members), $138 plus HST (Non-members)

At the Centre, we think pride in your creative accomplishments is something to celebrate. Acquiring a technical skill can be the most satisfying, especially when you are able to take something beautiful home with you! Students will learn the basics; materials, proper use of tools, techniques and soldering of silver. Your imagination for projects is your only limit: earrings, bangles and band rings are all possibilities. Tuition fees include the use of all tools and equipment; students will be required to purchase their own beginner kits which include metals (available through the Centre). No class October 12th

Karen Wawer has loved jewellery from the time that she was a child. Three years ago she made the switch from consumer to creator when she took her first class at Cape Breton Centre for Craft & Design. Never content with making the same thing twice, she spends her time designing fresh pieces and searching out new techniques.

Now a member of Metal Arts Guild of Nova Scotia, Karen shows her work regularly in their Juried shows and enjoys sharing her skills with students and fellow guild members.
