This course is designed to give instruction in intermediate skill levels of Whitework Embroidery. Techniques in Broderie Anglaise, Lettering, Richelieu, Hedebo, Mountmellick and Ayrshire Stitchery will be taught. You will identify and use the correct fabric, threads, needles, and special tools for each technique studied. You will learn to transfer designs to fabrics, complete samples of each type of stitchery within this field, and research the historical information for each technique. Finishing, conservation methods, and identifying examples of Whitework Embroidery will also be covered. You will design and stitch a project as the final assignment.
