Site Specific Printmaking

  • Lunenburg School of the Arts 6 Prince St Lunenburg, NS Canada (map)

In this weeklong printmaking course, students will work with instructor Charley Young to site specifically record their impressions of the historic and charming town of Lunenburg. Daily drawing excursions in town will serve as the basis for printed imagery. Upon return from these adventures, students will work independently and collaboratively towards the development of a series of handprinted linocut plates. Through demonstrations, personalized instruction and hands–on practice, students will explore plate preparation, linoleum block carving, inking and hand printing. Technical and conceptual investigations will be addressed through class discussions and critiques as students work towards the completion of a class exchange portfolio and develop a large-scale collaborative print.
