Making and Thinking Symposium

November 14, 2015

Keynote speaker: Scot Laughton, Head of Industrial Design, Sheridan College

Making & Thinking is a one-day symposium investigating the craft world’s reinvigorated interest in the relationship between craft and design. While fine craft and design are often defined in opposition – one-of-a-kind versus multiples, concept- versus client driven, material specialization versus flexibility – contemporary craftspeople and designers are melding these two methodologies. This hybrid field results in new work that is inventive, unique and user-centered.

— Melanie Egan, Head of Craft & Design, Harbourfront Centre
