Connect with craft at Made by You, the Manitoba Crafts Museum and Library’s (MCML) signature fund-raising event. Discover new outlets for your imagination while enjoying a fun afternoon with a community of people who like to create. Made By You includes hands on workshops, craft demonstrations, kids’ craft activities, a raffle and refreshments.

Workshop Pass $25

Made by You Workshops give participants the chance to try new craft techniques with instruction from knowledgeable craft artists.
•Passes allow participants to take up to 3 workshops.
•Workshop are offered concurrently during 3 sessions (45 minutes each)
•Workshop times: 1:15 pm, 2:15 pm, and 3:15 pm.
•Workshop selection is on a first come first served basis at the event.
•Passes will be sold at door if not sold out in advance.

2015 Workshops

Try Shuttle Tatting Instructor: Monica Smith

In the “Try Shuttle Tatting” workshop you will learn about the tools and materials used for tatting. You will also be able to use the tools yourself and start learning the “flip”, the basis for the stitch used in tatting.

Wrapped Loop Pendant Instructor: Marla Robert

Students will learn the wrapped loop technique to make a pendant using a bead and wire.

Paper Collage Instructor: Takashi Iwasaki

Finger Weaving Instructor: Carol James

Needle Felted Acorn Instructor: Candace Prior

Glass Cutting Techniques Instructor: Prairie Stained Glass

Surface Beading Instructor: Andrea Reichert

Note: Some workshops involve the use of sharp tools. Techniques are most suitable for teens and adults.


General admission includes access to:
•Hands on craft activities for kids of all ages.
•Live craft demonstrations: ◦Hand crafted musical instruments – Walt Lysack
◦Bobbin lace – Rise Thompson and Jocelyn Froese
◦Traditional rug hooking – Judy Trefry
◦Hand spinning – Heather Leslie

•Raffle – Prizes include locally made craft, hotel stays and certificates for craft supplies and classes.
