Dasha, a fiber artist and former Guild member, will introduce us to a technique known as “cobweb felting.” Dasha likes to work with wool and silk to create her pieces. Samples of her work can be seen on her website at www.dagmarkovar.com Cobweb felting is a modern twist on one of the oldest textile making techniques – the technique of felting. In a cobweb form, this technique allows for production of unusually gossamer‐like fabrics with potentially lace‐like qualities. During the course of the day, participants will make a luxurious cobweb scarf of their own design. They will learn basic principles of 2D wet felting and the specifics for cobweb felting application. The workshop will also cover choices of materials, basic steps of felt‐making, basics of colour mixing, various edge treatments, and troubleshooting.
