Join Instructor Shelley MacDonald for a hands-on workshop designed to introduce participants to Intermediate Silversmithing. Students are introduced to more complex techniques and instructed on usage of specialized tools through detailed demonstrations and studio work. In this class you continue to develop the skills learned in the previous class and learn new skills that include bezel setting round cabochons and chain making. In this class you will make two projects, depending on the complexity of your design. Expand your chain making skills to include chain designs that require soldering, such as single link designs. You will also learn to manipulate soldered links to alter their shape from round to oval or curved, as well how to flatten and forge them using hammers and steel blocks.
Course fee includes supplies for class projects and use of jewellery tools. Bring a notebook, pen and old clothing to wear. Please wear closed-toe shoes! Students must have completed a beginner course or have some knowledge and ability in jewellery making.
